Publishing updates to the theme

Publishing updates to the theme

When changes are saved on the master theme, they are published immediately to merchant stores that are eligible for automatic updates. Given that, do NOT publish any changes without approval.

North America vs. Europe

Due to how Lightspeed's servers are set up, we have to have two separate instances of our theme for NoAm and Europe. When any changes are made, they must be made in both back-offices. Here are the web addresses for each:
All changes will be made on the primary store (urls listed above). Any changes to the theme files will be pushed automatically to oure preset demos. Editing the presets (e.g. austin-bikes.shoplightspeed.com and austin-home.shoplightspeed.com will only change the appearance of their demo sites.

What can be updated and where

  • Theme files: For changes to stylesheets, javascript files and template files, you will use the Theme Editor on the main Austin theme (Design > Theme Editor).
  • Default theme settings: For changes to the default theme settings that are used when our theme or presets are installed
    • Default theme - go to Design > Theme Editor > More... > Manage Settings. Then click on the setting you're wanting to edit and change the default state or text.
    • Presets - go to Design > Theme Editor > More... > Manage Presets. Choose the preset and then find the setting you're wanting to edit.
  • Theme details: These are the details that are shown at the top of the Theme Settings page. It does not matter what preset is being used, the details will be the same. To edit, go to Design > Theme Editor > More... > Edit details.
